Personally I think farm work visas should include an optional path to citizenship. This would address the "dead end farm job" problem to some degree.

Make it a good path with reasonable checkpoints and something sensible might develop such as doing a hard labor job like farm when young then getting more educated and settling down to do better things.

Also, the way they are running this the workers don't participate in the local economy really. That sucks for everyone.

There is time for education off-season, right?
