Geographically, New England is made of 6 states, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Traditionally, New York marks the northern most state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the east coast with West Virginia at it's southern end.
Since NYC is, sorta by definition, in the state of New York, it isn't in New England.
If New England is a state of mind and not a geographical region, then sure. Why not? 🤪
