in DnD settings there isn't exactly lore about how they get weapons. in previous editions the assumption was they use what they had in life, what is lying nearby, or whatever the necromancer who raised them hands them. many of the design choices in 5e are you streamline new players into the gameplay without minutiae like "how many shortswords should I keep on hand to pass out to the skeletons I summon" or "can they wield exotic weapons they held in life". but, yes a solid DM can draw on knowledge of the game to tamper with stuff like this without breaking the game. like having a death god who grants shortswords to boney boys or allowing a player to arm them with other things

Ah I can see that take, especially after reading the recent quotes from Zenimax employees about how the recent round of playoffs went too. The CEO also said "we'll first support the platform that has the most users purely out of resource reasons". He later says he expects to support all platforms eventually. So as much as I love to hate on Microsoft, this seems like more of the cold calculations of business than a response to a perfcoved slight. Xbox simply is not an attractive platform for anyone not owned by Microsoft to prioritize right now.

Pre-firearm plate armor was pretty lightweight, lots of videos of people running and rolling and climbing in it. Is D&D supposed to only be like jousting armor where you can't move? I've never been clear on this and I'm more willing to look like a twerp about it on here than with a DM in person

Have you ever watched someone play Candy Crush? It's full-on manipulative. "Oh, soo close! You almost managed to beat this level! Don't let this chance escape! Just pay 5 gems and you can continue!" There are certainly different kinds of players and some are more or less easily manipulated. But somebody who manages to stay rational wouldn't play Candy Crush eitherway. If you tell them beforehand that they have to pay €200 to play this stupid minigame they'd ask you what you are smoking. But with microtransactions it's quite easy to draw money out of somebody's pockets. People like that have as much agency over their microtransaction spending as a smoker has over their next cigarette or a gambling addict has over playing the next bet. The mechanics of microtransactions are often close to identical to the mechanics of gambling.
