Images taken by its Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) are sent back to Earth, and citizen scientists have stitched them together into fascinating timelapse videos. In a recent video that covered about 15 minutes of real time, you can watch as an M-class flare was unleashed off the surface of the Sun. These flares can produce brief radio blackouts on Earth.
