Coming up on Friday June 20th is the opening of my exhibition "a workshop for everyday technology", the outcome of my residency at the Leitrim Sculpture Center in Manorhamilton/Cluainín, County Leitrim, Ireland.

It's been a very full two months of conversations around technology, borrowing tools, learning new materials and making art. I'm very grateful to the staff at the LSC for their assistance and support, the ^ collective (@benbo) for lending their space for meetups, @ephemeral for support, stimulating conversations and bringing me into the fold, and the local community for sharing their thoughts and teaching me about non-digital technologies. Thanks also to @cmos4040 for helping me in my research and organising conversations at ^, and @decentral1se for working together with cmos on the archiving software distribusi-verse, and most importantly, the craic!

Here are the exhibition details for those interested in visiting:

Simon Browne, "a workshop for everyday technology"
Leitrim Sculpture Center, New Line, Manorhamilton

    Exhibition Launch: Friday 20th June 2025 5pm – 8pm
Exhibition runs until: 19th July 2025
    Gallery opening times: 11am - 1pm & 1.30pm - 4pm Wednesday to Saturday

More on the LSC website: https://www.leitrimsculpturecentre.ie/whats-on/exhibitions/exhibition-residency

and even more on my archive, running on distribusi-verse: https://archive.simonbrowne.page

I love these sculptures. I expect someone has told you about the "Norwich keyboard" already... but just in case there is a concrete keyboard in Norwich, a bit of public art and it's rather beloved. It was made by Molly Sole in 1999 who intended it to be a mystery which for years it was.

It's interesting to think about what these works will look like as they age, and depending on if they are exposed to nature.
