    @futurebird It would take some 20 days just to get from Rome to Constantinople, so definitely a few months, so I could see more than one place.

      You will have local currency, an escort if needed, clothing etc.

      @futurebird

      I'd be surprised to survive more than a single day.

        Aw with a guide and money I think most people would be fine.

        And if you have some exotic goods to trade as your cover story.

          @futurebird I figure any time travel over millennia will involve a big infectious disease problem. Never mind the lack of modern medicine--there's the simple problem that the bacteria and viruses of the era and the ones I'm carrying with me are going to be different in detail, like the Columbian exchange. The chance that I'd either get deathly ill or be the source of an epidemic is significant.

            Day Six

            They are still not impressed with the idea of using place value and zero and think my ideas about germs are a silly superstition.

            I'm so mad they don't have tomatoes. I thought I liked Italian food.

            Oysters are cheap at least.

              @futurebird (If I did go back I'd go around asking everyone what was up with those dodecahedra, and they'd probably say "we don't know, that's some weird Allemani shit from up north")

                    @futurebird Maybe see about getting coffee going a millennia earlier? It'd be in Aksum then.

                        Oh yes, clothing, freshly bleached with urine. Sounds lovely.
