    If you make less than 51k the "Big Beautiful Bill" will make your after tax income decrease.

    Meanwhile the the most wealthy get the biggest tax cuts.

    I don't understand how this isn't obviously unpopular. It doesn't even have a token tax cut for working class people to act as a fig leaf for the massive spending on tax breaks for the richest people in the country. That's normally how Republicans do tax cuts.

    That is *before* you discuss what it does to medicaid.

      Normally they'd have some little $300 tax cut for working class people and act like it's the most wonderful thing in the world as they gut the budget.

      They couldn't even be bothered. I guess the set of working class people who have voted for them don't care? Or they are so deep in misinformation there is no one who can tell them this is what will happen?

      Not even Elon, for all his criticism is talking about THIS. It's regressive. Bad for the economy. Bad.

        @futurebird they're able to do this because they think it no longer matters. they don't need that level of vote support anymore, and the level they do need will only shrink. our electoral system is, at this point, basically completely broken at every level from local to judiciary.

        it's not insane if they know they're going to get away with it.

          @bjc

          OK but what about this BS. Everyone. Even rich people, arguably rich people and business owner MORE needs to know where the hurricane will be. If you don't have staff an launch weather balloons often enough you can't know.

          Do we really have to let the house get blown down to learn?

          I guess they really think things won't get worse.
