@noondlyt @futurebird @weirdestate Hold up! Hold up. Back to this photo!

Looking at the floorplan, that is the exact POV from the shitter. That wooden rectangle above the room divider, left of the railing? That's the landing of the loft stairs. So when you're getting up in the morning, you can casually check whether your significant other is currently using the facilities.

Same goes for when you're at the stove, making coffee. Via the bathtub glass floor.

    Very practical

Yup: Throne, sink, shower, and bathtub. Obvs. You can watch the whole process. At least you can see it happen before you smell it.

This is a kink forward household. Gotta be.

I don't get glass floors except in boats and sky walks.

It might be because there are so few windows lower down? Like if they didn't have some glass in the ceiling there'd be little or no daylight, and then the ceiling of one logically has to be the floor of the next.

Can you imagine the serial killer vibes of going over to a house like that then asking to use the rest room and only then finding out?

There is only one bathroom and it's that one.

I wonder if the new owners will invest in some sandblasting and many rugs?

@futurebird @noondlyt @weirdestate there's no door on the bathroom. The fact that that *hasn't* been called yet out says everything about this interior design. And no ceiling, either. This is... I don't think this is salvageable.

And "just make the downstairs windows bigger" is not an option because it's a listed building.

The exterior of the building suggests either a mansion or maybe some kind of club or government building?

                    I'm curious now too.

It's odd to think that strange bathroom is in this fancy building.

My god this neighborhood is expensive! Over half a million pounds for this little basement one-bedroom?

I mean this happens in NYC too...

I'm getting way too nosey about this building, but it's fascinating, it's like NYC but different... I wonder if there is a "flat" in NYC like the one that started this post tucked away someplace? I wonder what the strangest apartment in the city is like?

                      Just a moment...

As others have said, it’s a former school. It was built by the London School Board and although it’s not mentioned in this article that explains their ethos, its architect T J Bailey makes an appearance.

That bathroom is wild. Keep chopping the onions, don’t look up.

The Schools of the London School Board: ‘Sermons in brick’

The London School Board built some 400 schools in the thirty years of its existence.  Together, they represent one of municipalism’s outstanding achievements.  Individually, they remain impressive both as architecture and symbol. The origins of the London School Board lay in the 1870 Education Act – the first attempt to ensure the education of working-class…
