Tapped a link in an email yesterday. Web page opened instantly*. Later a link from here on Mastodon did the same. It's possible to make amazing web experiences that equal or beat native apps. We just need the will.

I think a lot of this is having a browser with control baked in. I recently switched to @Vivaldi and performance on Android is stellar. It's clear that not having to crunch through client side code for ads and tracking makes a huge difference. Oh, and it does tabs on my foldable screen which is a huge bonus.
