3/ "Aides for the Oversight Committee said the documents include a redacted version of the so-called “birthday book” Epstein’s former partner Ghislaine Maxwell gifted him for his 50th birthday that reportedly contains a collection of messages to Epstein from high-profile associates, as well as Epstein’s will, a non-prosecution agreement between Epstein and the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of Florida, and financial records."

        @GottaLaff

In my mind, based on the description, I was hoping that the "two small arcs" description of the breasts wasn't that important.

This is somehow more crude and upsetting than what I'd imagined.

I also no longer doubt that Trump made this. It's his level of work. Yuck.

I was thinking more of a funny, sexist ho ho ho bachelor party drawing with "boobies"

          ...

Yeah I don't like this at all. Not one bit.

Part of me is really resistant to the fact the people really can be like this. I don't know why. Maybe I just want to pretend that such people don't exist.

But the text should have given it away. I shouldn't be surprised. So crude and pretentious. Like these guys really thought they were doing something worthy of anyone's envy.

              😞

                6/ Whoa.

                Via Ben Collins:

Has anybody noted that the first line in this is from the Maurice Sendak children's book Higglety Pigglety Pop?

"Jennie only nodded, her mouth full of leaves. "Then why are you leaving?" "Because," said Jennie, snapping off the stem and blossom, "I am discontented. I want something I do not have. There must be more to life than having everything."

I need to take a break from this story for a while.

Every now and then it comes into sharp focus in a very unpleasant way. This went on for decades and the men involved didn't care about those girls at all.

They mentioned congress has the WHOLE book.

It all needs to be released.

(Others in the book have admitted their letters are real and explained "why" they wrote them. Only one person says it's fake.)

Remember when people made fake version of this letter based on the description. None of them are like the original. After all the headlines said it was a "bawdy" letter ... which is a silly innocence-lending word to describe what this really is.

                    Two Humbert Humberts.

@futurebird @GottaLaff I'm not sure "wannabe" is accurate -- it sounds like their interests were more broadly pedophilic than Humbert Humbert was.

I meant that in the way they are being pretentious about it... like they are some kind of sophisticated enjoyers of things the common people can't understand. (I don't understand.)

It reminds me of that book.
