Ok but why do they look like termites? I swear to god "golden age" comic artists have never really looked at an ant.
Their legs aren't that bad, though...

How is this body horror?
@futurebird how is it not??
imagine feeling your eyeballs bulge out into huge black compound insect eyes and your vision split into a thousand different facets

It did mention "red kryptonite" I don't know much about that...
@futurebird @dhobern Usually, in this era, Red Kryptonite affects Superman in some random, goofy and story-specific way that wears off after a few days. It gives him a bulging super-brain or the head of a lion or alters his personality, and it's always a different effect. I guess in this case he knew this "cloud" had a specific effect he could exploit...

@futurebird also how does he know how to speak ant just because he grew an ant head
i could turn into a dolphin and i'm pretty sure it wouldn't make me fluent in porpoise

Insects don't see things split up like that. It's integrated in their mind.
But you could talk to the ants at last. (or at least understand what they were going on about... you'd need pheromones to really fully communicate. ) That would be wonderful.

Now that is a better question. But it's superman so. IDK just go with it.
