    There is this whole conversation about "saving comedy" and Austin for some reason and I have no idea what any of it's about or why it's so serious... especially when it's about comedy.

    I mean... I think it's just none of it's really "for me" and that's fine.

          @gemini6ice @futurebird If you've never found any stand-up to be funny, sounds like a you problem.

            @jhavok @gemini6ice

            IDK stand up is really hit or miss. Mostly miss IMO. I have never laughed as much at standup as I have at ... many tumblr posts.

            And that's not an endorsement of tumblr.

            I've seen some funny plays though.

            Heck. I've seen funnier performances of Shakespeare... if the actor really gets it.

              There are more drama videos about the beefs these guys have with each other than... jokes.

              And then there is this thing where people just act like "stand up" is the most brave and wonderful thing in the universe that only the very best comedians can do and ... I don't buy that at all. But then I think comedy is deeply subjective. Contextual.

              Dudes talking about... stage fright... like it's fighting in a war.

              All comedy is hard.

              But stand up is easy, if you can pick your audience.

                But what would I know. I never find anything funny. I'm a feminist after all.

                  @futurebird iirc a lot of wannabe right-leaning comics tried moving to ATX following Joe Rogan.

                    @arubis

                    Yeah and it's taken over too many of the conversations about comedy. Like even the criticism is looking at this narrow sliver of ... the universe of funny things.

                    I'm tired of it.

                      How about if we smiled?

                      (Or would that just make it creepy?)
