    Work requirements for healthcare? Healthcare? Because people just love to be lazy and gobble up doctor's visits for no reason?

    How do you get them to be less lazy? Let them get sick!?

    Really people should have every incentive to take advantage of all forms of preventive healthcare. And that's before bringing morals into it. It's just smart.

    And the rest you just do because you aren't a ghoul. In theory. I do not understand any of this.

      @futurebird

      They are ghouls and everyone deserves healthcare... but also the for-profit healthcare system has invented a lot of expensive "preventative" stuff that costs a lot and does probably nothing.

      the guy that invented the PSA screening test is famous for being sorry and thinking it was a huge mistake (he published such in the NYTimes in 2010) https://web.archive.org/web/20250408201858/https://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/10/opinion/10Ablin.html

      So, I'm with you when the preventative stuff works... but too much of it doesnt!

        I mean the basic stuff. Like prenatal care. Never skimp on that. Right? RIGHT?

          It all makes sense from their POV. "Most" isn't enough, they want "all". They want that medicaid money to help pay for their tax cuts for the rich, but the peons get restless when they try to cut the funding for it. So the answer is to change the rules so that almost no one can qualify for Medicaid. Brilliant! "See, we didn't cut benefits! Everyone on Medicaid still gets them!"

          Next, they'll add work requirements to receive unemployment!

            The amount of money that’s going to be eaten up by eligibility determination is something that I don’t think has gotten enough attention. Every time these ghouls put a mean test on a service, you just jacked up the administrative price. That is on top of the fact that Medicaid is going from annual redetermination for to biannual. That alone will double the cost.
