There is an opera about Nixon going to China. AN OPERA. Yes. And? It's good.
It's one of my favorite operas. No irony.
In it Nixon sings about how much he hates the press. The chairman dances. You don't need to "get" opera (musical theater but MORE) to enjoy it.
I wish it could break containment. Opera fans respect it. But, no one else ever mentions it. I don't think they understand how *funny* it is, how blessed we are that it exists. (I assume John Adams knows what he did though.)
