Some people have been in there for WEEKS on the damn floor sleeping next to the toilet and obviously they don't have any way to get the word out since it looks like this video was smuggled or something.
By the way did you know you can buy a tiny camera that records to an SD card for like $7 bucks? Might be a good idea to practice different ways of using it.

Images are very important to help people understand what's being done.
Basically they have "detained" (kidnapped) more people than they can process or deport. I've mentioned this before but the deportation numbers for this year are BELOW what it was during Obama, which tells you both how much Obama was doing but also something else: the *detaining* (don't use the word "arrest") are HIGHER.
What that means is they have a lot of people and no where to put them.
This is NOT a problem you want.

The reasons the deportations aren't any higher is you need to have a place to deport a person *to* and they have already gone after all of the people who have places to go.
They are now going after people whose primary residence is HERE. People with houses, car payments who have been here for years.
If they deported YOU where would they send you?
"But I'm a citizen."
Nevertheless what would happen? You'd say "No this is a mistake" and now you are in a camp or whatever this video is showing.

Yeah, I've been contemplating what it'd be like to suddenly find myself in Ireland. At least they speak English. Mostly, anyway.
Or France. Or England. Or whatever.
I wouldn't know anybody. I'd just become another refugee. It would suck.

Also if the ICE guy is saying "well you were born in Mexico you could go back there." But you haven't been there for a decade.
What city? Where would you go?
Maybe you came here as a child and you don't even know what that country is like.
Maybe you are stateless and don't have documentation for any nation.
So you'd fight to stay and hopefully get out before you lose your job, before your whole life is wrecked.

This is outrageous but do we really need to wait for it to happen to a cute white person with good media skills before anyone believes me?

So much of this repression and hatred has been seen before: one term wasn't enough.
Stephen Miller is the at the center of this spiderweb.

He creeps me out because he's so obviously into lying to get people hurt. He was yelling about criminal immigrants, claimed the child of an undocumented woman would grow up to be a criminal in a news clip -- and I know that he knows that's false.
It's just a lie to scare people.
Anyone working for ICE also knows it's false too. But I think like many law enforcement types they have their own rationalizations based on feeling sorry for themselves because maybe someone was rude.

I'd be willing to bet hat building has an occupancy permit that prohibits using it as residential / sleeping quarters and fire codes that limit the number of people who can be in the building at once. If you ir anyone you know is in NY, you should start innundating the fire marshall and the code enforcement office with complaints.

Brad Lander was talking about doing that it just might work.

@futurebird
I would think New York has a more concentrated population therefore making it easier to block i c e in the way that Los Angeles is but if this sort of thing is happening, they are kidnapping people without much attention from the population which is disconcerting
Especially considering the rhetoric Nazis are using around the Riverside shooting

I think having more people around makes big flashy actions harder, but my understanding is they have been doing the same ICE raids we've put up with for 10 years which generally involve having a warrant for a person with some criminal history and picking that person up.
HOWEVER what appears to have changed is now when they get in a building to get the person they also just take extra random people too. Not people who are "associates" , just random people from the same building.

@futurebird this, I believe, is the crucial point people don’t get. Maybe because they’re genuinely incapable of understanding what “lack of due process” means, or because they shut it out to protect themselves from the terror of what it would mean for them.
Because it *is* deeply unsettling if actually anyone can be next. And even due process is often deeply inhumane: There are numerous German news articles about rejected asylum seekers and their kids being deported after years of living here.
