Lots of things going on at the same time, but if I had to pick, I'd say that elites (and a non-negligible chunk of population) never got over the events of December 1991.

Similar to how American elites (and a non-negligible chunk of population) never got over the events of April, 1865.

I get that some folks are interested in process, many are interested in sportsball score-keeping, but it seems most are interested in consequences.

And for those, we wait and see.
