We have giant cicadas around here, and I never get to see them. Except that (1) one night a giant cicada entered my window on the 7th floor (the nearest tree was 3-4 stories tall); and (2) last month I almost stepped on one, on a concrete sidewalk between two patches of grass (by night but with some lighting)
