There are things, people, events that make this a good country, not often counted in typical celebrations of patriotism.

What would the US be like without them. Can you imagine?

This is a lot like the lies about "immigrant crime" that lead up to the election. Now it's just the whole city that's "crime" ... this is about manufacturing consent for repression.

It's very inconvenient for Republicans that major cities aren't racked with crime and so they have just decided to lie about it and implement their playbook anyway.

If you don't live in a big city in the US please understand there isn't a "debate" about it. Crime isn't the top worry of the people who live in these cities. And the way they the fed is addressing it isn't what we'd want at all.

The data show this. The people will tell you this. If you hear someone say it push back hard.

They are just saying it to cast doubt since the numbers make it so obvious they are lying they have to say something.

This whole thing is totally political.

There are over SIXTY cities in the US with more crime than DC.

And frankly people in republican areas see higher crime rates so they just assume it MUST be worse in the cities. Because if it were... what would that mean? It doesn't align with their assumptions about reality.

I would love to live in DC and the only reason I don't is because I live in NYC which I like even better.

And you know, maybe it's not for you. That is fine. But we've worked hard to make living in cities worth it.

They are going to ruin it all.

I live in the South Bronx and it's so insulting and infantilizing to have this clown tell me that *I* don't really know if there is crime or not WHERE I LIVE. That people who live in cities shouldn't have and damn say in what problems we want addressed or how to address them. That is OUR call.

Because a lot of us care a lot about these cities and love them and we've worked hard to make them the kind of places where everyone wants to live. Why do you think the rents are so high?

This lying is so exhausting. "DC has some of the highest crime in the world" People just eat this up. I don't even think that was true back in the days when DC had a crime problem. Now? It's just nonsense. Lies lies lies.

And Vance is saying "well the stats are fake" Just as a throw away line. No follow up.

And we REALLY need to start searching all of the pillowcases and chips bags anywhere near that man. Because I now think he legit is like that other politician who had gold bars hidden all over his house.

If Eric Adams is coming to your house after he is gone it is very important to check the pillowcases, he might have put bribes in there. Check the chip bags! You could fit *several* bribes in this "share size" bag.

In these troubled times, search the mayor's house for bribes too. Sometimes a politician's aid will try to disguise a bribe in a red envelope and call it "Chinese Culture" Don't fall for it!

Well that's why we should make up a fake billionaire donor. The same contributions, but with that extra sheen that gets them so excited.

The Adams aid gave the reporter a bag of chips and she found the bribe when she opened it on the subway. Free snacks are somewhat normal for these things.

The lady from Adam's campaign who gave the chip bag bribe is trying to say "it's part of Chinese culture"

... there was also a red envelope in the chip bag.

But why was it HIDDEN in a chip bag?

I've kidded about crowd funding one. You know if they pay more attention to the concerns of one shady dude who gives them 10k than 5000 constituents who give them 2 bucks each... maybe we should simply pretend to be a single shady dude.

To be fair... there are probably a lot of creepy things in that house.

You are supposed to get off the rug before you pull it out.

Not only is he sneaking and stealing and passing around bribes they are not very large bribes and he's incredibly obvious bad at it. Always gets caught. It's so embarrassing for NYC.

Yeah, he's running for mayor again.

There are other options.

So our mayor is famous for this video where he talks about places your kid might be hiding drugs. Classic 80s paranoia.

Perhaps we should have paid more attention to his "sneak craft" game: recently this same man was responsible for a cash money bribe given to a reporter ... in a greasy bag of potato chips. YES.

I think for NYC our dislike of the mayor isn't just about his corruption, it's also about how BAD he is at being corrupt.
