It's the mushrooms themselves. It could be a simple by product of the way they process wood. But it could also be for insects, to attract them to disperse spores. Except... "insects dispersing spores" isn't really a huge thing generally.
It's also probably multiple reasons.

Many mushrooms glow in the dark and no one really knows exactly why.
If you were looking for something mysterious in this world to wonder about and try to solve there is that.
I recently got a book on "The Ants of New Zealand" It's very short, but the information on cold adaptation and the strange ways the ants came to those remote islands is fascinating.
I've come to love the southern ant.
My brother is 10 years older than me... I need to stock up on some of these heh heh heh
I mean I guess it makes sense, but if this dude was telling me I needed to live on a boat and sell all my possessions I'd look at him and think "he kinda seems like a cult leader, maybe this is a cult"
But then there is nothing easy or funny about trying to help people get out of cults. Especially when the cult has all their money and controls their housing. Ugh.

Amazing living things, and I love how they give our efforts to create taxonomies of living things so much trouble. Good trouble, that.
I'm glad people are being more loud about this. But, I wonder how it can break through into the wider cultural currents. Driving a Tesla in NYC is very much out and has been for some time.
That these are the exact people who have been most curious about electric cars makes this perhaps more effective. There were like 200 people at a protest at a Tesla dealership in Cleveland.

He might well know it's and error and keep repeating it anyway. Anything to stoke resentment for social security as they would love to liquidate the entire program. In theory this should be a "political third rail" but this isn't a philosophy that asks permission or assumes anything is off limits.

There are some high quality men in this world if you look enough.
I'm just a little frustrated by how the whole word hangs on his every utterance. It strikes me as a kind of unintentional deference. And if he were in the habit of doing what he said, or said less there might be some point given how much power he is trying to bring under his control.
But, he's kind of like a nonsense machine, and keeps all attention glued on his personality to great benefit. It impresses some of his admirers.
What happens if that stops?

There is some entertainment value in watching powerful people trade insults and say shocking things. Maybe even moment of happiness from a real jerk getting shut down with facts for once.
But, we can't just watch this like it's a tennis match. Or point out how horrible and shocking this thing that was said or that thing that was said might be.
How can I better support people with a chance of resisting "complying" ? How can I be an obstacle to their projects?
I think we must radically reframe the way that we apply our limited attention and energy and we need the help of those who work in reporting to do a better job of this.
