Every time I simply describe these events we have witnessed in my own words I'm stunned by how obvious and blatant the corruption we are witnessing has become.

The Deputy Attorney General doesn't go and meet with convicted child traffickers normally. That alone requires an explanation that no one in the Trump administration has given us.

Why did he meet with her? What was said? The public has a right to know.

Granted I don't think that Maxwell is trustworthy. She is in prison and wants a pardon from the president. So she isn't a good person to ask for honest information about that same president.

She could lie in hopes of getting a pardon.

Nonetheless they said, in the name of transparency they would share those tapes.

But now everyone has forgotten about that. Another broken promise.

A week ago we heard that the tape of the mysterious and irregular meeting between the the Deputy Attorney General of the entire United States, Todd Blanche (who is also the former personal lawyer of the president) and Maxwell, Jeffery Epstein's accomplice might be released.

And now? Crickets. Where is that tape.

The one where she says "Trump did nothing wrong."

Just like with the Epstein files themselves. "we will release it" then they don't.

That is worth at least six or seven in the bush IMO.

I enjoy how the second photo shows us the "shriking" in action. The indignation! Magnificent bird.

  • Why are we talking about crime in cities where there isn't any extraordinary crime when the CDC was shot up with 100s of bullets killing a police officer and state politicians have been assassinated?
    myrmepropagandistF myrmepropagandist

    @graydon

Totally agree. I do think, however, that mild symptoms of urban disorder can make less politically tuned in people susceptible to this kind of propaganda.

Which is why now is a great time for mayors of big cities to put a little focus on sanitation. The right talks about sanitation a lot in connection with this issue as if persecuting people will make the trash go away.

But we could actually make cities cleaner and everyone would like it.

There *is* a crime problem. It's right wing political violence.

Can you PROVE you are not, at this moment, posting from a pillow fort?

I wrote a letter for my congressmen Ritchie Torres. I will deliver it in person later and I have some things to say to him that I don't want to put in writing. Frankly, I think we may need to find a new rep. but it seems responsible to do this. Feel free to use bits of this if it is helpful. I'm still pushing the "money out of politics" thing because I don't see how they can say no to it.

    It's the floor. The minimum.

  • I dunno, in some ways I've been waiting 10 years for this Epstein story to finally break the public consciousness; but now that it has, I don't really have much to say.

    @AnarchoNinaWrites

When I was but a tween girl in Ohio I used to do a lot of auditions, there's a kind of culture around that, kids just wanting to get into show business. Well. There was this VERY infamous "teen beauty" contest that I remember the local theatre people taking the time to warn us all NOT to try out for even though it was in with all of the other listings.

Being a child no one said directly exactly why, but even at that age I could infer things.

Probolomyrmex longinodus are a species of ant that nests in snail shells filled with soil. The entire genus is cryptic. Alex Wild has one of the few photos of a living ant:

    Probolomyrmex

is an extremely rare proceratiine genus found in tropical regions around the world. Most species are eyeless and blind, perhaps inhabiting deep soil, but little is known about their biology. The photographs below may be the only ever taken of a living example.

They are eyeless, and live in leaf litter, or in the previously mentioned shells.

Hard to study, hard to find, tricky to ID when you do find them. Absolute legends. Ants with secrets. #ants #rareAnt

    Probolomyrmex (multiple species)
    Camponotus confusus

There have to be more of these. I'd love to know the full story behind the names. Really there is a place in the world for a book that just goes into interesting taxonomic controversies and frustrations.

Have you encountered any scientific names that hint at someone pulling out their hair?

  • I just realized that Messor barbarus can't sting.
    myrmepropagandistF myrmepropagandist

This is absolutely wild. Two populations of ants (Cataglyphis hispanica) in the deserts of Spain, the same species but separate genetic lineages. All workers are hybrids of both populations but in both cases, through social hybridogenesis the reproductive queens and males are only of one lineage or the other.

Queens of both species must mate out to produce workers (hybrids) but the workers never in turn reproduce.

They show it's been like this for a long long time!

    myrmepropagandistF myrmepropagandist

I just realized that Messor barbarus can't sting. And now I need to rethink something I thought was obvious about seed collecting ants.

Pogonomyrmex and Veromessor (the genuses of harvester ants we have in the Americas) can sting.

It seems that much like "Army Ants" the group "harvester ants" isn't as cohesive as I thought.

That said... they are somewhat related, both practice social hybridogenesis.

I'm stunned. Ants shock me every single day! They can't keep getting away with this!
