Well, it requires one because the producer said so, not because the game can't function otherwise. That's what makes it half-correct. Having the "server" locally hosted on your device would fix it, but they just let it die without allowing those who purchased the game to be capable of playing it. That's the big push behind this movement, not online only multiplayer games. Everyone knows those die eventually.

I probably didn't notice because I never bought Sims 4. I couldn't bring myself to give up the pseudo open world of Sims 3.

Daggerheart is not at all a PbtA game, though it borrows elements. It borrows pretty heftily from a lot of predecessors besides 5e, like pbta, fitd, cypher/numenera, and SWRPG/Genesys. With imo the last one sharing the most DNA.

Bingo. Especially when what they've done to trigger the comments telllimf them to "play something else" is ask how to extend the thing they already like, or to replace some subsystem that is so clealy not core to the game. But with 5e, there are also just so many third party releases that you can also replace core systems, like magic, with little difficulty, and people know it. They don't want to play something else. They're not ready to try something else. They want to keep their dragon ampersand and their dis/advantage rolls, and telling them they're doing something wrong by holding on to that isn't convincing. It just communicates that other games are played by *fucking assholes with boundary issues*.

@david_chisnall It's fine. There is more to SI than most people know. It's just that compared to the rest of the city it's not as dynamic... but if SI was it's own town people would gush about it like it was Austin or something.
